1. Information Stored by PawJournal
PawJournal may store the following information that you enter or attach:
- Pet profiles and related details
- Journal entries, weight records, and vaccination information
- Routines, reminders, and notes
- Documents and other attachments added to the app
Your primary PawJournal database is stored locally on your device. FJ Develop does not collect this information or store it on FJ Develop servers.
2. How We Use Information
The data is used only to provide app functionality, such as tracking, managing records, and reminders.
3. Optional Memories and Photos
PawJournal lets you create memories for a pet. A memory may contain the pet's name, a title, a note, a date, a category, and an optional photo.
You can choose to take a new photo with the camera or select a photo from your photo library. PawJournal requests camera or photo library access only when you choose to use these features. When you select an existing photo, the app may read its capture date to suggest a date for the memory.
Only the photo you choose is added to the memory. The selected image is compressed and stored locally on your device. Memory photos are not sent to FJ Develop.
Deleting a memory removes its locally stored photo. Copies already included in an export or iCloud backup must be managed separately.
4. Optional iCloud Backup
PawJournal includes an optional iCloud Backup feature. It is disabled by default and is used only if you choose to enable it or start a backup manually.
An iCloud backup may contain your PawJournal data, including pet profiles, memories and their photos, journal entries, vaccination and weight records, routines, reminders, and documents or other attachments stored in the app.
If automatic backup is enabled, PawJournal may update the backup when your data changes, at most once every 24 hours. The app maintains one backup file and replaces it when a new backup is completed.
The backup is saved in PawJournal's private container in your personal iCloud Drive using services provided by Apple. It is not sent to or accessible by FJ Develop. Your local database remains on your device and is not moved to or opened from iCloud.
Apple processes and stores iCloud data according to your iCloud settings and Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Optional Calendar Integration
PawJournal includes an optional calendar integration for vaccination dates. The feature is disabled by default and requires your permission before PawJournal can access your calendars.
If enabled, you can choose an existing writable calendar and select whether a vaccination date, an expiry date, or both should be added as all-day events. Calendar events contain the pet's name, the selected date, and a description identifying the event as a vaccination or vaccination expiry.
PawJournal uses calendar access to list available calendars and to create, locate, update, or remove events connected to vaccination records in the app. PawJournal does not import changes from your calendar into the app and does not send calendar information to FJ Develop.
Calendar settings and identifiers for connected events are stored locally on your device. They are not included in PawJournal exports or backups. Events may be synchronized by the provider associated with your chosen calendar, such as Apple iCloud or Google, according to that provider's terms and privacy policy.
You can disable calendar integration or revoke calendar permission at any time. Disabling the integration pauses new additions and updates but does not automatically remove existing calendar events.
6. Data Sharing and Export
FJ Develop does not sell or share your PawJournal data with third parties.
When you choose to use iCloud Backup or calendar integration, information may be processed by Apple or the provider associated with your selected calendar as described above.
If you choose to export your pet's information, PawJournal creates an export file containing only the data you choose to include. You decide how and where that file is shared using the options available on your device.
PawJournal does not automatically transmit exported data to FJ Develop or any third party.
7. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Your primary app data is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, your locally stored PawJournal data is also deleted.
Disabling automatic iCloud Backup stops future automatic backups but does not delete an existing iCloud backup. Deleting PawJournal or its local data may also leave the backup in iCloud. You can manage or delete stored app data through your device's iCloud storage settings.
8. Export, Import, and Restore
Export files are created only when you request them. If you choose to include attached PDF documents during export, those PDF files are included in the export file. If you do not select them, they are not included.
When exporting a pet, you can choose whether memories are included and separately choose whether their photos are included.
Imported pet data is added to PawJournal only when you choose to import a compatible export file.
If you choose to restore an iCloud backup, the backup data replaces the current local PawJournal data. Before restoring, the app creates a local recovery copy of the current data.

You can:
- Delete your locally stored data at any time.
- Export or import your pet's information whenever you choose.
- Choose whether attached PDF documents are included in an export.
